You can install it so it works for all users or just for yourself. Since I'm the only person on my computer I just install it for myself. Sounds like yours installed for all users. Which is a good thing if you share your computer and won't harm anything if it is only you. If Gimp is working for you I wouldn’t give it another thought.

After a little searching, I found it under the Gimp.app. I right click on Gimp.app and pick ""Show Package Contents"". When Gimp installed it should have created a .gimp folder in your home directory. Mine is like your first /Users/me/.gimp-2.4/plug-ins.
