		<description>Robots.txt may keep parts of your site off google and other search engines, but it is like providing a treasure map for hackers.  Hackers are using their own bots to crawl your website and the hacker bots will simply disregard the exclusions in your robots.txt file and use it to their advantage.

You mentioned use of the .htaccess file in your post and also use of an index file in every folder.  I used to do that but it&#039;s very tedious.  I found you can add Options All -Indexes to htaccess that will do the same thing for the whole site.  However, you seem much more knowledgeable than me so do you know of a  reason why this shouldn&#039;t be used?  Is there any advantage of one method over the other or even to use both at once?</description>
